Metal‐Ion Regulated Light‐Free Z→E Isomerization of Azobenzene Glycomacrocycle

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Metal ion‐catalyzed Z→E isomerization of photoswitchable azobenzene glycomacrocycle: A new azobenzene‐based glycomacrocycle is capable of forming a 1:1 complex with divalent metal ions in both E‐ and Z‐isomers. The complexes undergo light‐free Z→E isomerization in a timescale spanning from seconds to weeks.

Chiral HPLC Separation of Phosphonothrixin and Phosphonate Derivatives and Electronic Circular Dichroism Characterization of the Isolated Enantiomers

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
Natural compound phosphonothrixin's herbicidal activity resides exclusively in its (S)‐enantiomer, yet existing enantioselective syntheses are cumbersome, and direct chiral LC separation is hampered by the compound's high polarity, lack of aromatic groups, and metal chelation–induced peak tailing.

Soil Silicon Application Alleviates Drought Stress in Sugar Beet (Beta vulgaris L.)

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background: The increasing frequency and intensity of drought events have led to yield and quality losses in sugar beet production in temperate regions in Central Europe. Under arid conditions, silicon (Si) application reduced beet yield losses under drought. Similar data for temperate climates are missing.

An automated polarimeter and its use in the study of active galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
In this thesis I present the design and development of an automated polarimeter for use in mapping the percentage levels and position angles of linearly polarized light from extended astronomical objects.

Optical Durability of Contemporary PV Encapsulants Through Artificial UV Weathering

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
Encapsulant choice can be used to mitigate UV‐induced degradation in modern silicon photovoltaic modules, but this strategy is only effective if encapsulants are durable under UV weathering. This study identifies optical changes to 14 commercial encapsulants as a function of UV weathering and identifies that, while changes to material transmittance ...

Hertz: an imaging polarimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The University of Chicago polarimeter, Hertz, is designed for observations at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory in the 350 µm atmospheric window. Initial observations with this instrument, the first array polarimeter for submillimeter observations ...

Summarizing multiple aspects of triple collocation analysis in a single diagram

open access: yesFrontiers in Remote Sensing
With the ongoing expansion of global observation networks, it is expected that we shall routinely analyze records of geophysical variables such as temperature from multiple collocated instruments.

Spin separation based on-chip optical polarimeter via inverse design

open access: yesNanophotonics, 2021
Polarimetry has been demonstrated essential in various disciplines, such as optical communications, imaging, and astronomy. On-chip nanostructures for polarization measurements are most expected to replace the conventional bulk elements, and hence ...

Synergistic Mechanism Between Ir–Phosphinito Catalyst and HFIP Enables Asymmetric Hydrogenation of Ketones Under Acidic Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 15, 1 August 2026.
A cooperative mechanism between a phosphinito Ir complex and HFIP provides a low‐energy pathway for hydrogen activation. This allowed the development of a highly efficient catalytic system for the hydrogenation of ketones that operates under acidic conditions, enabling the reduction of substrates containing phenols and carboxylic acids with no added ...

The KVI Lamb-shift polarimeter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We have designed, built and implemented a compact polarimeter for spin-polarized proton and deuteron beams based on the Lamb-shift principle. We briefly describe some design considerations and present first results obtained with this polarimeter.
