Ontology‐Aligned Structuring and Reuse of Multimodal Materials Data and Workflows Toward Automatic Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Reproduction of stacking fault energy calculations from literature with a semi‐automated large language model‐assisted extraction procedure: extraction of simulation protocol, atomistic structures, computational parameters, and reported results, ontology alignment, knowledge graph construction and, finally, recomputation forvalidation.

Relativistic Scattering in the Funnel of Cygnus X-3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Cygnus X-3 presents significant challenges to standard accretion models. Recent polarimetric observations by X-ray Polarimetry Explorer reveal high polarization degrees in the hard state (∼23%) and unexpectedly significant polarization in the soft state (

Polarization ray tracing and polarization aberration compensation in reflective, astronomical telescopes [PDF]

open access: yesOptical Modeling and Performance Predictions X, 2018
Assessing and optimizing polarization performance in the context of ray-based optical design can be challenging. We describe an approach to this problem that decouples polarization effects from optical system geometry for reflective systems.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Polarization Independent Achromatic Meta-Lens Designed for the Terahertz Domain

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
In recent years, metasurface-based focusing elements have gradually become an indispensable type of terahertz lenses. However, the meta-lens often suffers from chromatic aberration due to the intrinsic dispersion of each element, especially in the ...

High‐Resolution Corrosion Fingerprinting of Alloy Libraries via Microdroplet Spectroelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic‐liquid microdroplet spectroelectrochemistry enables stable, localized electrochemical measurements over extended timescales. By coupling impedance spectroscopy, wetting analysis, finite‐element simulations, and operando Raman spectroscopy, it disentangles geometrical and electrochemical effects, opening new opportunities for rapid corrosion ...

Foundational Machine‐Learning Interatomic Potential for Simulating Chemically Complex Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We apply a foundational machine‐learning interatomic potential based on the graph atomic cluster expansion (GRACE) to simulate the commercial Ni‐based single‐crystal superalloy CMSX‐4. Hybrid Monte‐Carlo/molecular dynamics sampling resolves short‐range order in the γ phase and L12 sublattice occupancies in the γ’ phase and connects them to stacking ...

Research of the polarization aberration on Smith prism

open access: yesPhysics Procedia, 2011
AbstractUsing the law of refraction and reflection of vector form to trace the light direction of propagation in the Smith prism. Be based on it, get the reflection phase shifter δs and δp on every planes, consequently obtain virtue matrix using Jones vector. The distribution of the polarization state of emergent light wave from Smith prism is analyzed

Polarization aberrations of electrically tunable liquid crystal mirrors

open access: yesOptics Express, 2020
Curved mirrors are able to fold optical paths and play important roles in compact optical systems in general. In this paper, we investigate the polarization aberrations of electrically tunable liquid crystal (LC) mirrors with two kinds of configurations (flat and curved ones). The LC mirrors exhibit spatially-continuous tunable wavefronts. The detailed
