Higher Order Polars of Quasi-Ordinary Singularities [PDF]
Abstract A quasi-ordinary polynomial is a monic polynomial with coefficients in the power series ring such that its discriminant equals a monomial up to unit. In this paper, we study higher derivatives of quasi-ordinary polynomials, also called higher order polars. We find factorizations of these polars.

We theoretically investigate metasurface spatiotemporal dynamics by introducing laser chaotic dynamics into metasurface domain. The spatiotemporal dynamics takes advantage of both the time-dependent dynamics of optical chaos and the local spatial ...

Polarization singularities in the clear sky
Ideas from singularity theory provide a simple account of the pattern of polarization directions in daylight. The singularities (two near the Sun and two near the anti-Sun) are points in the sky where the polarization line pattern has index +1/2 and the ...

Spin Hall Effect in the Paraxial Light Beams with Multiple Polarization Singularities
Elements of micromachines can be driven by light, including structured light with phase and/or polarization singularities. We investigate a paraxial vectorial Gaussian beam with multiple polarization singularities residing on a circle.

Coherence-induced Polarization Effects in Vector Vortex Beams
We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally coherence-induced polarization changes in generic and higher-order vector vortex beams with polarization singularity.

Compound Vector Light Generator Based on a Metasurface
In view of wide applications of vector light with a non-uniform polarization state, a compound vector light generator is proposed to generate compound vector light. One compound vector light contains two or more non-uniform polarization modes and several

Generation of polarization singularities with geometric metasurfaces [PDF]
AbstractThe polarization singularities are directly generated by using plasmonic metasurfaces with the geometric phase profiles designed to form the Poincaré beams. Different morphologies of polarization topological structures of lemon, star, monstar, spiral, dipole and quadrupole are created by the superpositions of Laguerre–Gauss modes with different

Spin angular momentum density in the tight focus of a light field with phase and polarization singularities [PDF]
For a light field with both phase and polarization singularities at its center, expressions are obtained that describe the distribution of the spin angular momentum (SAM) density in the sharp focal spot of an aplanatic system.

Reconstructing the topology of optical polarization knots [PDF]
Knots are topological structures describing how a looped thread can be arranged in space. Although most familiar as knotted material filaments, it is also possible to create knots in singular structures within three-dimensional physical fields such as ...
