A parametric solution to the pole assignment problem using dynamic output-feedback
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2001Summary: A new technique is presented for pole placement of linear time-invariant systems using dynamic feedback. A recently developed method for partial pole assignment using constant feedback is generalized to the dynamic output-feedback case. Subject to a mild assumption on the number of complex conjugate poles to be assigned, it is almost always ...

On the number of solutions for dynamic pole assignment problem
Proceedings of 32nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002The number of complex dynamic compensators of order q assigning a given set of poles for a q-nondegenerate m-input, p-output system of McMillan degree n=q(m+p-1)+mp is given in this paper. As a corollary it follows that when this number is odd, the generic system can be arbitrarily pole assigned by output feedback with a real dynamic compensator of ...

Pole-assignment problem for discrete-time linear periodic systems
International Journal of Control, 1987Abstract This paper considers the pole-assignment problem for discrete-time linear periodic systems through the use of linear periodic state-variable feedback control. It is shown that if the N-periodic system with m inputs and n states is completely reachable then the problem can be reduced to the pole-assignment problem for a discrete-time linear ...

A Simplified Direct Approach to the Problem of Adaptive Pole Assignment
1991This work deals with the design of a stable model reference adaptive pole assignment control scheme for continuous-time SISO systems based on state variable filters, so that the availability requirement for the derivatives of the plant output can be removed. Firstly, the relevant problem is solved in the known parameters case.

Isospectral systems and its application in partial pole assignment problem
2017 36th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2017In this paper, we construct a class of isospectral vibrating systems from partial explicit spectrum and partial implicit spectrum. It extends the work of P. Lancaster in which the isospectral vibrating systems are constructed only from complete explicit data or complete implicit data.

On Inverse Spectral Problems and Pole-Zero Assignment
1997The inverse eigenvalue problem of constructing a band symmetric matrix from spectral data may be regarded as a problem of assigning the poles and zeros of a certain frequency response function by passive control. This problem has application in controlling the dynamic response of undamped vibratory systems.

Pole assignment problem in two dimensional linear systems
International Journal of Control, 1983Sufficient conditions for existence of a solution to the pole assignment problem in a class of 2-D linear systems using state feedback are given. An algorithm for finding the feedback gain matrix for a class of 2-D linear systems is presented and illustrated by simple numerical example.

Pole assignment by output feedback: a longstanding open problem
Proceedings of 1994 33rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002The problem of pole assignment by gain output feedback is a longstanding open problem in linear system theory. A historical review of this topics is presented with the emphasis on its nonlinear nature of the problem structure. >

Pole assignment problem of a distributed parameter system with unbounded feedback
International Journal of Systems Science, 1992Abstract The pole assignment problem for distributed parameter systems governed by analytic semigroups is discussed. Introducing unbounded feedback operators, we can solve the problem under a weaker restriction on the separation of the open-loop and the closed-loop poles. These types of feedback systems inherit the spectrum determined growth assumption
