A Smart Magnetically Actuated Flip‐Disc Programmable Metasurface with Ultralow Power Consumption for Real‐Time Channel Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study proposes a 1‐bit programmable metasurface based on flip‐disc display, named flip‐disc metasurface (FD‐MTS). This new design enables ultralow energy consumption while maintaining coding patterns. It also exhibits high scalability and multifunctional flexibility.

Monte-Carlo Swarm Policy Search [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Finding optimal controllers of stochastic systems is a particularly challenging problem tackled by the optimal control and reinforcement learning communities. A classic paradigm for handling such problems is provided by Markov Decision Processes. However, the resulting underlying optimization problem is difficult to solve. In this paper, we explore the

Controlled Movement of Soft Actuators using Multi‐Responsive Microgel Arrays and Microcirculatory Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Microscale hydrogels (microgels) feature improved mass transport characteristics supportive of fast actuation and chemical tunability amenable to programmed stimuli response. A unique soft actuator architecture is realized by encapsulating microgels in soft microcirculatory systems which enable the convenient delivery of liquid stimuli for powering and

Pro-cyclical Unemployment Benefits? Optimal Policy in an Equilibrium Business Cycle Model [PDF]

open access: yes
We study the optimal provision of unemployment insurance (UI) over the business cycle. We use an equilibrium search and matching model with aggregate shocks to labor productivity, incorporating risk-averse workers, endogenous worker search effort ...

A Search to Integrate the Science Policy Works and “Turkish Science Policy 1983-2003”

open access: yesAnkara Üniversitesi Dil ve Tarih-Coğrafya Fakültesi Dergisi, 2017
In Turkey, depending on the country's economic status and technological sophistication, science policy efforts were begun, science policy decisions were taken with 1960s and the issue was reflected to the official documents.

Variance-Reduced Off-Policy Memory-Efficient Policy Search

open access: yes, 2020
Off-policy policy optimization is a challenging problem in reinforcement learning (RL). The algorithms designed for this problem often suffer from high variance in their estimators, which results in poor sample efficiency, and have issues with convergence.
