Rare and Vulnerable: Mires of the Western Alps Are Changing Rapidly Under Climate Pressures

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 29, Issue 1, January/March 2026.
Resurveys of Sphagnum‐dominated mires in the Western Alps revealed marked vegetation changes over 12‐ and 25‐year periods. Observed patterns include increased species richness, woody plant encroachment, and declines in mire specialists, indicative of the progressive drying.

Stakeholder Relationships in the Circular Economy. Conceptualizing Relational Approaches Through Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 34, Issue 8, Page 10698-10722, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Circular economy (CE) demands a stakeholder perspective. However, CE literature investigating the nature and the evolution of stakeholder relationships for its effective implementation is not made explicit nor comprehensively conceptualized, resulting in a lack of appreciation for stakeholders' role and a poor understanding of how their ...

Known and Unknown Biases: A Framework for Contextualising and Identifying Bias in Animal Behaviour Research

open access: yesEthology, Volume 131, Issue 12, Page 269-276, December 2025.
As scientists, we are prone to biases. These biases can influence our ideas, how we conduct our research and how we interpret our findings. Individual researchers can take active steps to locate and mitigate bias in their own work. We propose a matrix of classifying biases which will help researchers contextualise biases.

The anti‐aging Klotho protects glioblastoma macrophages from radiotherapy‐induced inflammation and predicts immunotherapy response

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 157, Issue 10, Page 2156-2172, 15 November 2025.
What's New? The anti‐aging protein klotho (KL) is a potential tumor suppressor and prognostic marker in glioblastoma. Little is known, however, about its mechanism of action and clinical relevance. This study examined KL expression in the setting of persistent inflammation and other stressors, including radiotherapy.

NIFEDIPINA, INCIDENCIA DE HIPERTENSIÓN PULMONAR HIPÓXICA Y ENGROSAMIENTO MUSCULAR DE ARTERIOLAS EN POLLOS DE ENGORDE

open access: yesRevista U.D.C.A Actualidad & Divulgación Científica, 2013

Male mate‐choice copying: a neglected aspect of sexual selection

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2025, Issue 11, November 2025.
Mate‐choice copying occurs when the choices of others influence an individual's mating preferences. While this behavior has been observed across various species, most research has focused on female copying behavior. However, male mate‐choice copying warrants independent attention due to the distinct benefits and costs it entails for males compared to ...

Motor–Speech Performance in Very Old Speakers: Associations With Physio‐Anatomical and Cognitive‐Linguistic Factors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 60, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Motor–speech skills slow down with age, but health care professionals lack normative data, especially on the vastly growing population of very old (VO) speakers. The execution of different motor–speech tasks requires both fine‐motoric and cognitive abilities.

Metabolic Origin, Role and Fate of the Denaturant Guanidine

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2025.
The origin of metabolic guanidine is largely a mystery. We suggest it is created when guanine‐containing nucleotides are oxidised by molecular oxygen instead of being broken down into urea as purines normally would. Guanidine may act as a signal to help cells control the level of reactive oxygen species.
