Synthesis and Micellization of Bottlebrush Poloxamers
ACS Macro Letters, 2022Bottlebrush polymers are characterized by an expansive parameter space, including graft length and spacing along the backbone, and these features impact various structural and physical properties such as molecular diffusion and bulk viscosity. In this work, we report a synthetic strategy for making grafted block polymers with poly(propylene oxide) and ...

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2022
Poloxamer 407 (P407) is widely used for targeted drug-delivery because it exhibits thermoresponsive gelation behavior near body temperature, stemming from a disorder-to-order transition. Hydrophobic small molecules can be encapsulated within P407; however, these additives often negatively impact the rheological properties and lower the gelation ...

Temporary vascular occlusion with poloxamer 407
Biomaterials, 2004There is a need for safe and reversible occlusions during percutaneous endovascular procedures. Poloxamer 407 is a non-ionic surfactant with rapid reversible sol-gel transition behaviour. The safety and efficacy of this polymer as a temporary embolic agent was investigated.

Poloxamer Thermogel Systems as Medium for Crystallization
Pharmaceutical Research, 2011To prepare a thermoreversible gel system able to work as a medium for crystallization at around 20°C, allowing easy retrieval of crystals by simply decreasing the gel temperature. Lactose was selected has model substance for crystallization.Water solutions with different% of poloxamer 407, α-Lactose monohydrate, and ethanol were prepared and analysed ...

Effects of Poloxamer Polydispersity on Micellization in Water
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2002The poloxamer 284 (Pluronic P94) is a triblock copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide) and poly(propylene oxide). P94 and fractions of P94 obtained after centrifugation at temperatures where solutions contain both dissolved unimers and micelles have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, mass spectrometry, and NMR.

A systematic evaluation of poloxamers as tablet lubricants
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 2020Lubricants are important for both preserving the tooling of high-speed tablet presses and attaining quality tablets. Magnesium stearate (MgSt) is most commonly used due to its superior lubrication efficiency; however, it can lead to negative effects on tabletability and dissolution.

Enhanced Oral Bioavailability of Ibuprofen in Rats by Poloxamer Gel Using Poloxamer 188 and Menthol
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2005To improve the oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble ibuprofen with poloxamer and menthol, the effects of menthol and poloxamer 188 on the aqueous solubility of ibuprofen were investigated. The dissolution and pharmacokinetic study of ibuprofen delivered by the ibuprofen-loaded preparations composed of poloxamer 188 and menthol were then ...

Prevention of Chlorhexidine Ototoxicity With Poloxamer in Rats
Otology & Neurotology, 2018Objective: Skin preparations, like chlorhexidine, are toxic to the inner ear, preventing their use as a preoperative skin disinfectant in the presence of a nonintact eardrum (e.g., perforation or tube). We aimed to determine if a poloxamer gel applied over perforated eardrums could prevent chlorhexidine ototoxicity.

Permeation of Piroxicam from the Poloxamer Gels
Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 1999Topical formulations of piroxicam were prepared using poloxamer 407 or poloxamer 188 by a cold method, and the permeation characteristics of piroxicam were evaluated. The permeation rate of piroxicam across the synthetic cellulose membrane and the rat skin decreased as the concentration of poloxamer increased.

Abstract The gelling temperature of Poloxamer 407/Poloxamer 188 (16%/10%) mixture solution increased with increasing amount of surfactants. Among surfactants tested, the order of effectiveness in increasing the gelling temperature was sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) > tween 20 > cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC).
