Topotactic crystallization of isolated poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) granules fromAlcaligenes eutrophus [PDF]
Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide-angle X-ray powder diffractometry (WAXD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) were used to investigate the crystallization behavior of PHB granules from Alcaligenes eutrophus isolated by enzymatic purification.

PRODUCTION OF SOME BIODEGRADABLE POLYMERS BY SOME BACTERIAL ISOLATES [PDF]
Several bacterial isolates were isolated from Dakahlia and Damitta Governorates. The isolates were purified, identified and tested for PHB production. The tested isolates were 17 isolates of Azotobacter chroococcum, 8 isolates of Azospirillum lipoferum ...

Accumulation of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate byRhodobacter sphaeroideson various carbon and nitrogen substrates [PDF]
Combinations of various carbon and nitrogen substrates were used to study poly-β-hydroxybutyrate accumulation and H2 evolution by Rhodobacter sphaeroides strain RV. The cells evolved hydrogen on lactate, pyruvate, or succinate under nitrogen-deprived conditions and on lactate-glutamate and pyruvate-glutamate media.

Ultrastructural and chemical assessment of poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid in the marine cyanobacteriumTrichodesmium thiebautii [PDF]
We report here on the occurrence and quantities of poly-β-hydroxybutyric acid (PHB) in natural populations of the marine cyanobacterium Trichodesmium thiebautii. A diurnal variation in the shape and size of PHB granules and in PHB content was observed.

Quantitative single-cell detection of poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) accumulation inRhizobium melilotiby flow cytometry [PDF]
The ability of flow cytometry to detect intracellular accumulation of poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) in individual cells of Rhizobium meliloti was investigated using light scatter parameters. PHB accumulation during stationary phase was shown to form inclusion bodies inside cells which were detected by forward angle light scatter (FALS) parameter.

Production of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate: poly-β-hydroxyvalerate copolymers [PDF]
In this paper I shall discuss some of the factors that are important in the large scale production by fermentation of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate: poly-β-hydroxyvalerate (PHB/HV) copolymers. Many of the points discussed are common process features in any scale up procedure.

Under conditions of nitrogen limitation, soil bacteria of the genus Rhizobium are able to induce the development of symbiotic nodules on the roots of leguminous plants. During nodule organogenesis, bacteria are released endocytotically inside the invaded

Biosynthesis of poly-β-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) is controlled by CydR (Fnr) in the obligate aerobeAzotobacter vinelandii [PDF]
CydR is an Fnr-like protein in the obligatory aerobic nitrogen-fixing bacterium Azotobacter vinelandii. The cydR mutant overproduces the cytochrome bd terminal oxidase. Using two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, we showed that beta-ketothiolase and acetoacetyl-CoA reductase were also overexpressed in the cydR mutant.
