Relationship between histone H1 poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribosylation) and histone H1 phosphorylation using anti-poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) antibody

Biochemistry, 1983
The chromatin-associated enzyme poly(ADP-Rib) polymerase catalyzes the posttranslational modification of histones. Antibody to poly(ADP-Rib) has been coupled to Sepharose, and the resultant immunoadsorbent was used to fractionate, specifically, histone H1 subpopulations undergoing this nuclear protein modification.

Poly(Adenosine Diphosphate Ribose) Polymerase and Deoxyribonucleic Acid Damage

Biochemical Society Transactions, 1977
Several classes of cytotoxic agents are known to affect glycolysis in cells by lowering the cellular concentration of NAD. Early investigations showed that both alkylating agents (Roitt, 1956) and ionizing radiation (Maass et al., 1958) were capable of producing this effect, and subsequent research has largely been confined to these agents. Most of the

IMMUNOHISTOCHEMICAL DEMONSTRATION OF POLY(ADENOSINE DIPHOSPHATE‐RIBOSE) SYNTHESIS IN HUMAN SKIN

The Journal of Dermatology, 1982
ABSTRACTThe distribution of poly(adenosine diphosphate‐ribose) [poly(ADP‐ribose)] synthesis in human skin was investigated by an indirect immunofluorescence technique using a specific antibody against poly(ADP‐ribose). In normal skin, the specific immunofluorescence of poly(ADP‐ribose) was observed in nuclei of not only epidermal cells but also cells ...

Poly(adenosine diphosphate—ribose) polymerase expression in human traumatic brain injury

Journal of Neurosurgery, 2003
Object. This study was designed to elucidate the pattern of expression of poly(adenosine diphosphate—ribose) polymerase (PARP) in human pericontusional brain tissue and to correlate these findings with commonly used clinical parameters. Methods. The expression of PARP was ascertained using immunohistochemical studies in eight specimens of human ...

Role of poly(adenosine diphosphate???ribose) polymerase 1 in septic peritonitis

Current Opinion in Critical Care, 2003
Peritonitis generally results from gastrointestinal perforation, with systemic sepsis developing over hours or days from an initially localized nidus of infection. The consecutive inflammatory response induces the widespread generation of oxidants and free radicals, which are potent inducers of breaks and nicks in double-stranded DNA.

The Involvement of Poly(Adenosine Diphosphate-Ribose) in Deoxyribonucleic Acid Repair

Biochemical Society Transactions, 1978
Poly(ADP-ribose) is a nuclear protein modification whose synthesis from NAD is catalysed by the chromatin-bound DNA-dependent enzyme poly(ADP-ri bose) polymerase (Hilz S Hayaishi & Ueda, 1977). The majority of the extensive NAD turnover that takes place in mammalian cells is localized in the nucleus and is thought to involve this enzyme (Rechsteiner et

Effect of hyperthermia on poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) glycohydrolase.

Cancer research, 1988
The effects of supranormal temperature on the activity of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase were studied by assaying the enzyme in cell extracts derived from cells subjected to hyperthermia and comparing with extracts that were heated in vitro. The enzyme activity was reduced by both hyperthermic treatment of cells and by heating of cell extracts ...
