Biochemical characteristics of extracts from proallergenic microfungi Erysiphe Palczewskii and Erysiphe convolvuli [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Phytopathogenic microfungi Erysiphe palczewskii and Erysiphe convolvuli, are ectoparasites causing powdery mildew in common plants. Fungi often produce immunogenic factors triggering allergic reactions, with airborne protein allergens playing ...

Nucleoside Diphosphate-Sugar 4-Epimerases [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1970
Uridine diphosphate (UDP)-arabinose 4-epimerase (EC 5.1.3.5) has been purified at least 20-fold from wheat germ by MnCl(2) treatment, (NH(4))(2)SO(4) fractionation, dialysis, and Sephadex and diethylaminoethyl cellulose column chromatography. The enzyme has no action on UDP-d-glucose, UDP-d-glucuronic acid, or TDP-d-glucose. The pH optimum is 8.0.

Dictyostelium discoideum nucleoside diphosphate kinase C plays a negative regulatory role in phagocytosis, macropinocytosis and exocytosis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Nucleoside diphosphate kinases (NDPKs) are ubiquitous phosphotransfer enzymes responsible for producing most of the nucleoside triphosphates except for ATP.

Two RmlC homologs catalyze dTDP-4-keto-6-deoxy-d-glucose epimerization in Pseudomonas putida KT2440

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
l-Rhamnose is an important monosaccharide both as nutrient source and as building block in prokaryotic glycoproteins and glycolipids. Generation of those composite molecules requires activated precursors being provided e. g.

Gene sets for utilization of primary and secondary nutrition supplies in the distal gut of endangered Iberian lynx. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Recent studies have indicated the existence of an extensive trans-genomic trans-mural co-metabolism between gut microbes and animal hosts that is diet-, host phylogeny- and provenance-influenced.

Nucleoside Diphosphate Sugar Analogues that Target Glycosyltransferases

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
AbstractGlycosyltransferases (GTs) are enzymes that transfer carbohydrates to a range of substrates and they play a fundamental role in the recognition processes associated with several diseases. The design of glycomimetics of nucleoside diphosphate (NDP) sugars—the natural substrates that act as inhibitors or modulators of GTs—is not only necessary ...

Variety of Nucleotide Sugar Transporters with Respect to the Interaction with Nucleoside Mono- and Diphosphates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2007
Nucleotide sugar transporters have long been assumed to be antiporters that exclusively use nucleoside monophosphates as antiport substrates. Here we present evidence indicating that two other types of nucleotide sugar transporters exist that differ in their antiport substrate specificity. Biochemical studies using microsomes derived from Saccharomyces

Nucleoside Diphosphate Sugar-Starch Glucosyl Transferase Activity of wx Starch Granules [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1978
Starch granule preparations from the endosperm tissue of all waxy maize (Zea mays L.) mutants tested have low and approximately equal capability to incorporate glucose from adenosine diphosphate glucose into starch. As the substrate concentration is reduced, however, the activity of waxy preparations relative to nonmutant increases until, at the lowest

Structural and Enzymatic Characterization of a Nucleoside Diphosphate Sugar Hydrolase from Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2015
Given the broad range of substrates hydrolyzed by Nudix (nucleoside diphosphate linked to X) enzymes, identification of sequence and structural elements that correctly predict a Nudix substrate or characterize a family is key to correctly annotate the myriad of Nudix enzymes. Here, we present the structure determination and characterization of Bd3179 --
