Preparation of Amidoxime-Fiber Adsorbents Based on Poly(Methacrylonitrile) for Recovery of Uranium from Seawater∗ [PDF]

open access: yesSeparation Science and Technology, 1994
Abstract Polymerization of methacrylonitrile was performed with anionic initiators as reported in the literature. The molecular weight of the polymer produced using BuLi as initiator at 0 ± 2°C was on the order of 105. Maximum conversion was 97% with BuLi initiator.

The uptake of radionuclides from aqueous solution by poly(amidoxime) modified reduced graphene oxide

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2014
Abstract Poly(amidoxime) (PAO) was grafted on the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) via an in situ polymerization reaction to fabricate poly(amidoxime) grafted graphene (PAO-g-rGO) complexes. The as-prepared composites exhibited improved hydrophilicity and were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy, X-ray ...

High mechanical property and hydrophilic electrospun poly amidoxime/poly acrylonitrile composite nanofibrous mats for extraction uranium from seawater

Chemosphere
Seawater reserves about 4.5 billion tons of uranium, if properly extracted, could be a sustainable green energy resource for hundreds of years, alternating its limited terrestrial ore and reducing the CO2 emitted from fossil fuels. The current seawater uranium adsorbents suffer neither economically viable nor adsorption efficiency, requiring more ...

Bio‐Waste Corn–cob Cellulose Supported Poly(amidoxime) Palladium Nanoparticles for Suzuki‐Miyaura Cross‐Coupling Reactions [PDF]

open access: yesChemistrySelect, 2016
Waste corn-cob cellulose supported poly(amidoxime) palladium nanoparticles (PdNs@PA) were prepared by the surface modification of waste corn-cob cellulose through graft co-polymerization and subsequent amidoximation.

Synthesis of zirconium poly‐O‐amidoximes

Journal of Polymer Science: Polymer Chemistry Edition, 1974
AbstractSynthesis of zirconium poly‐O‐amidoximes was affected by using both interfacial and aqueous solution techniques. Reaction is rapid. The yield for the synthesis of analogous titanium product is Cp2ZrCl2 > Cp2TiCl2 which is consistent with that predicted by the hard‐soft acid–base theory.

The extraction of uranium from seawater by poly(amidoxime)/poly(hydroxamic acid) resins and fibre

Reactive Polymers, Ion Exchangers, Sorbents, 1983
Abstract The uranium concentration in seawater is 3 μg/l with an estimated 5 × 109 tonnes of uranium in the oceans, in solution as the tricarbonato complex. Any extraction process will encounter the problems attendant on this high dilution, the only feasible methods currently being ion exchange on chelating resins or sorption onto inorganic materials.
