Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2003Abstract Acrylonitrile (AN)/N-vinylimidazole (VIm) copolymeric hydrogels were synthesized by irradiating their binary mixtures. The AN moieties of copolymers were amidoximated using hydroxylamine hydrochloride in basic medium. The amidoximated hydrogels were used for separating uranyl ions from aqueous solutions by a complexation process.

Stability constants of amidoximated chitosan-g-poly(acrylonitrile) copolymer for heavy metal ions
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1999Amidoximated chitosan-g-poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN) copolymer was prepared by a reaction between hydroxylamine and cyano group in chitosan-g-PAN copolymer prepared by grafting PAN onto crosslinked chitosan with epychlorohydrine. The adsorption and desorption capacities for heavy metal ions were measured under various conditions.

Abstract N , N ′ -Dipropionitrile acrylamide (DPAAm) monomer was synthesized by the reaction of 3,3 ′ -iminodipropionitrile with acryloyl chloride. This monomer was polymerized by using AIBN as initiator in ethanol solution at 70 °C and a conversion of 77% obtained.
