Experimental Investigation and Surface Roughness analysis on Hard Turning of AISI D2 Steel using Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN)

open access: closedMaterials Today: Proceedings, 2019
Abstract The performance of polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) was studied to investigate surface roughness analysis at various machining parameters. The PCBN tools were used in tool steel AISI D2 steel with hardness of 64 HRC. Machining test was performed with dry cutting condition at different cutting speed, feed and depth of cut.

Preparation and Characterization of Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PcBN) Compacts by a Pressureless Sintering Process

open access: closedAdvanced Materials Research, 2010
A novel cost-effective pressureless sintering method has been developed to prepare polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) compacts. The effect of feldspar as sintering aids was analyzed in this paper. Various amounts of feldspar from 5 to 15 wt% were added to cBN powders, and the pressureless sintering was conducted at temperatures ranging from 900°

Micro Thin Film Thermal Sensors Embedded Into Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride (PCBN) for Advanced Machining Study

open access: closedASME 2009 International Manufacturing Science and Engineering Conference, Volume 2, 2009
Monitoring and control of thermomechanical parameters in tooling materials are imperative for improving the fundamental understanding, reliability and workpiece quality of material removal processes. Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) tools are being used heavily in machining of low carbon steel and superalloys.

Study on EDM Technics of Polycrystalline Cubic Boron Nitride Cutting Tool and PcBN Cutting Tool’s Life

open access: closedApplied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
The samples of Polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PcBN) cutting tool were machined by adjusting the main parameters of electrical discharge machining (EDM). After the machining, the phases were analyzed by X-ray diffraction analyzer and the surface layer microstructure was observed by scanning electronic microscope.
