Optical spectroscopic studies of simple polyenes and complex xanthophylls
The optical spectroscopic properties of four polyenes, decatetraene, dodecapentaene, tetradecahexaene and hexadecaheptaene, two carotenes, β-carotene and lycopene, and five xanthophylls, neoxanthin, violaxanthin, lutein, zeaxanthin, and β-cryptoxanthin ...

An Article Review: Charge-Transfer of Polyenes and Carotenes
When an electron moves from one atom or molecule to another, a charge-transfer complex is formed. The other objects must be able to accept these electrons, and one entity must have free electrons or a tendency to donate them.

Aqueous Dissolution and Recovery of Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) in Multilayer Film
Schematic of a water‐based recycling process for PVOH/PBAT‐PLA tri‐layer films, showing selective PVOH dissolution, process condition screening, and recovery of both polymer fractions. In this work, solvent‐based recycling was applied to a multilayer film of PBAT‐PLA and PVOH, where the dissolution conditions were optimized and the reusability of the ...

Achieving Near‐Complete Dechlorination of Poly(vinyl chloride) via Electrochemical Reduction
A one‐pot controlled‐voltage electrolysis achieved up to 97% dechlorination of poly(vinyl chloride) using common plasticizers as redox mediators. The liberated chloride ions were oxidized at the anode and utilized in a subsequent arene chlorination, offering a route for repurposing the chlorine from PVC.

Sudden Polarization in Push-Pull Polyenes: A Model Exact Study
In substituted polyenes, it has been conjectured that a large charge separation occurs when a rotation of $90^o$ is carried out about a double bond.
