Kisspeptin as a test of hypothalamic dysfunction in pubertal and reproductive disorders
Abstract The hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis is regulated by the gonadotropin‐releasing hormone pulse generator in the hypothalamus. This is comprised of neurons that secrete kisspeptin in a pulsatile manner to stimulate the release of GnRH, and, in turn, downstream gonadotropins from the pituitary gland, and subsequently sex steroids and ...

Alpha‐1 antitrypsin deficiency is a genetic disease that affects the lungs and the liver. The role of the heterozygous genetic defect in the development of liver cancer in patients with cirrhosis is unclear. Our study found that carrying the Pi*MZ genotype increases the risk of developing liver cancer.

Existentialism and My ‘Postwolf’ Dachshund: Authenticity in the Age of Genetic Engineering
ABSTRACT Human genetic engineering has the potential to profoundly alter the traits of future generations, raising critical ethical questions about authenticity and identity. Essentialist perspectives reject genetic engineering, claiming it inherently compromises authenticity by deviating from a species‐typical genome.
