Biofilm Inhibition: Compounds with Antibacterial Effects

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, 2018
Biofilms can form on living or inert surfaces and prevail in natural, industrial, and hospital environments. They are made of bacteria organized in a coordinated functional community.

Stimulation de la fermentation malolactique par l'addition au vin d'enveloppes cellulaires de levure et différents adjuvants de nature polysaccharidique et azotée

open access: yesOENO One, 1985
L'addition au vin d'écorces de levure (0,2 g par litre) permet une stimulation de la fermentation malolactique. Leur action s'exerce en augmentant la population bactérienne et surtout en retardant et atténuant la phase de déclin. Le traitement du vin par

A Chirality‐Converted Bacteriolytic Dodecapeptide Regulates Vibrio‐Induced Polymicrobial Infection and Ameliorates Invasion‐Associated Gut Microbiota Disequilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multidrug‐resistant Vibrio infections are rising rapidly and threaten coastal populations worldwide. This study introduces D‐zp37, a chirality‐engineered antimicrobial peptide with exceptional potency against resistant Vibrio species. D‐zp37 kills planktonic cells, blocks mixed‐species biofilms, disrupts essential bacterial stress responses, and shows ...

Crystal Facet‐Polysaccharide Matching in CFS‐P Nanocrystals Drives Fungal Uptake, Vacuole Destruction, and Selective Antifungal Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Facet‐engineered PVP‐capped CuFeSe2 nanocrystals exhibit potent, selective antifungal activity by strongly binding cell‐wall mannan, enabling vacuolar entry and organelle disruption. High‐index facets show superior mannan affinity, validated by theoretical calculations and experiments. CFS‐P induces vacuolar cavitation, mitochondrial abnormalities, and

Antibiofilm polysaccharides

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceBacterial extracellular polysaccharides have been shown to mediate many of the cell-to-cell and cell-to-surface interactions that are required for the formation, cohesion and stabilization of bacterial biofilms.

Protection against N. gonorrhoeae induced by OMV-based meningococcal vaccines are associated with cross-species directed humoral and cellular immune responses

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionLimited protective immunologic responses to natural N. gonorrhoeae infection and a lack of knowledge about mechanisms of protection have hampered development of an effective vaccine.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Research progress on the polysaccharide extraction and antibacterial activity

open access: yesAnnals of Microbiology
Background Over time, the amount of germs resistant to antibacterial medications has been steadily rising because of their prolonged and indiscriminate use. The increase in drug resistance significantly threatens to human health and has become a globally
