Characterization of pomegranate peels tannin extractives

Industrial Crops and Products, 2012
The phenolic extractives of pomegranate peels from various cultivars were studied. The total polyphenols, the condensed and the hydrolyzable tannin contents were analyzed for 4 Tunisian pomegranate cultivars (Mekki, Chelfi, Gabsi, Jbeli). Matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (MALDI-TOF) mass spectrometry was used to examine the ...

Pectin extraction from pomegranate peels with citric acid

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016
Pectins were extracted from pomegranate peels with citric acid, according to a central composite design with three variables: pH (2-4), temperature (70-90°C), and extraction time (40-150min). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was used to follow changes in material composition during the main steps of pectin extraction, and also to ...

Effect of pomegranate peel extract on the oxidative stability of pomegranate seed oil

Food Chemistry, 2020
Pomegranate seed oil is valuable source of bioactive compounds with health-beneficial effects, but it is sensitive to oxidation due to high content of PUFA. In order to improve stability of pomegranate seed oil, the influence of natural antioxidant (0.1% pomegranate peel extract) and a combination of synthetic antioxidant (0.01% butylhydroxytoluene ...

Antiliperoxidant activity of pomegranate peel extracts on lard

Natural Product Research, 2007
Phenolics were extracted from powdered pomegranate peel using water, methanol, acetone and ethyl acetate (EtOAc), respectively. The antiliperoxidant activity of the extracts on lard was studied by peroxide value method. All the extracts showed enhanced inhibitory effect on lard peroxidation with the increase of phenolic concentrations.

Extraction, isolation, characterization and antimicrobial activities of non-extractable polyphenols from pomegranate peel

Food Chemistry, 2021
Non-extractable polyphenols (NEPPs) in pomegranate peel were released by acid hydrolysis followed by extraction using ethyl acetate (EtOAc). Ten NEPPs were identified in the hydrolysate using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS).
