The Influence of Various Feeding and Pond Fertilization Strategies on Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) Production and the Selectivity for Natural Versus Supplementary Diet in Semi‐Intensive Aquaculture Systems

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries
High feed costs constrain tilapia production, making exploring low‐cost feeding strategies important. We assessed the growth of tilapia over a period of 6 months, fed 1%, 2%, or 4% of body mass day−1 with and without fertilization in 18 liner ponds ...

Bayesian Optimisation with Dimensionless Groups: A Synergy of Performance and Fundamental Understanding

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Dimensionless groups quantify the balance among key forces governing a system’s physical behaviour and are foundational in engineering for describing, comparing, and scaling processes.

The Effects of Grass Carp on Aquatic Plants, Plankton and Benthos in Ponds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The effects of the grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella Val.)on aquatic plant biomass, water quality, phytoplankton, chlorophyll a, zooplankton and benthic fauna were investigated between May and September 2000 in earthen ponds at Cifteler- Sakaryabasi

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Verification of semi-intensive shrimp culture techniques: Vietnam. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Vietnam has about 260,000 ha devoted for shrimp culture in early 1999. The total production was estimated at about 80,000 tons in 2000, so that productivity was about 300 kg/ha only.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Preliminary evaluation of ERTS-1 for determining numbers and distribution of prairie ponds and lakes [PDF]

open access: yes
ERTS-1 and aircraft multispectral data collected over a North Dakota test site during July 1972, are compared to evaluate the capability of the satellite sensors to detect numbers and distribution of prairie ponds and lakes. Recognition maps using ERTS-1,
