Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Experimental validation studies on a multi-dimensional and multi-scale population balance model of batch granulation

open access: yes, 2009
In this study, a dynamic model is presented for the granulation process, employing a three-dimensional Population balance framework. As a first attempt to account for the multi-scale character of the process, the nucleation and aggregation kernels used ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Development of a multi-compartment population balance model for high-shear wet granulation with Discrete Element Method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper presents a multi-compartment population balance model for wet granulation coupled with DEM (Discrete Element Method) simulations. Methodologies are developed to extract relevant data from the DEM simulations to inform the population balance ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

The Potential Material Flow of WEEE in a Data-Constrained Environment—The Case of Jordan

open access: yesRecycling
The rising concerns about electric and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) come from the rapid increase in demand for appliances and the decreasing lifetimes of equipment.

Outlier analysis for a silicon nanoparticle population balance model

open access: yes, 2018
We assess the impact of individual experimental observations on a multivariate population balance model for the formation of silicon nanoparticles from the thermal decomposition of silane by means of basic regression influence diagnostics.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Analysis of Oil Droplet Coalescence and Breakage Characteristics in Double Branch T Junction Pipe

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2020
Existing studies do not further analyze the coalescence and breakage of oil droplets in T junction pipe, and the study on coalescence and breakage characteristics of oil droplets in double-branch T junction pipe using PBM model has not been reported.
