Outbreak-Related Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Strains Similar to US Strains, South Korea, 2013
In late 2013, outbreaks of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection recurred in South Korea. Genetic and phylogenetic analyses showed that isolates from the outbreaks were most closely related to emergent US strains of PEDV.

Molecular Mechanism of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus Cell Tropism
CoVs can spill from an animal reservoir into a naive host to cause diseases in humans or domestic animals. PEDV results in high mortality in piglets, which has caused immense economic losses in the pork industry.

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDv) causes disease and mortality to piglets worldwide. Most vaccines used to combat the disease have been ineffective live attenuated virus vaccines. Research has emerged showing both the spike (S) and membrane (M) proteins of the virus have potential for use as subunit vaccines.

Research progress on serological and clinical diagnostic assays of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a causative agent of acute, highly contagious porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED). It infects pigs of all ages and results in high mortality rates particularly in suckling piglets.
