Effects of confinement between attractive and repulsive walls on the thermodynamics of an anomalous fluid

open access: yes, 2016
We study by molecular dynamics simulations the thermodynamics of an anomalous fluid confined in a slit pore with one wall structured and attractive and another unstructured and repulsive.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Using stone column as a suitable liquefaction remediation in Persian Gulf coast. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This research investigates behavior of gravel drain piles under high-level earthquake loading beneath the structures foundation. To achieve this purpose one of the waste water septic tank project in north of Persian Gulf in Hormoz Island was selected ...

Reduced Muscular Carnosine in Proximal Myotonic Myopathy—A Pilot 1H‐MRS Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 2 (proximal myotonic myopathy, PROMM) is a progressive multisystem disorder with muscular symptoms (proximal weakness, pain, myotonia) and systemic manifestations such as diabetes mellitus, cataracts, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Understanding the microscopic moisture migration in pore space using DEM simulation

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, 2015
The deformation of soil skeleton and migration of pore fluid are the major factors relevant to the triggering of and damages by liquefaction. The influence of pore fluid migration during earthquake has been demonstrated from recent model experiments and ...

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.

In-situ tests on pore-water pressure response and consolidation mechanism of surface sediments in tidal flat of Yellow River Delta under tide and wave loading

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
In order to study the pore pressure response and consolidation mechanism of the surface sediments in the tidal flat of the Yellow River Delta under the action of wave and tide loading, the fluid sediments imitating the rapidly deposited seabed silty ...
