Hydrostatic pore water pressure revisited

Basin Research, 2022
AbstractHydrostatic or “normal” pressure can be easily visualized as a water column with pressure given by ρgh and any departures classified as abnormal pressure. This is the basis for commonly used hydrostatic pressure depth trends in sedimentary basins that are constructed on assumptions of constant gradients and are datumed at mean sea level or ...

Estimates of the Peak Pressures in Bone Pore Water

Journal of Biomechanical Engineering, 1998
The maximum pore fluid pressures due to uniaxial compression are determined for both the vascular porosity (Haversian and Volkmann’s canals) and the lacunar–canalicular porosity of live cortical bone. It is estimated that the peak pore water pressure will be 19 percent of the applied axial stress in the vascular porosity and 12 percent of the applied ...

Computer Simulation of Pore-Water Pressure

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
An appropriate analysis of pore pressure models under irregular loading effects is provided. the model is based on liquefaction test with the constant amplitude loading and pore pressure model, based on the accumulated principle of residual pore pressure, using the differential method: superposition method and optimization method.

Pore water pressures in secondary consolidation

Rheologica Acta, 1974
This paper describes the work carried out to investigate the pore pressures occurring in secondary consolidation. A theoretical approach and an experimental technique was developed in order to conduct the study.

Pore Water Pressures in Unsaturated Soils

Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1965
A specially designed pressure plate apparatus was used to measure the residual negative pore water pressures in compacted samples of five different clays. Samples were prepared using both static and kneading compaction. Pore water pressures at the optimum water contents varied from –4 psi to –80 psi depending on the specific surface of the soil.

Pore-Water pressure of debris flows

Physics and Chemistry of the Earth, Part B: Hydrology, Oceans and Atmosphere, 2000
Abstract Until now, the pore water pressure, which is one of the stress constituents governing the flow characteristics of a steady, laminar debris flow, has been considered to be hydrostatic. We succeeded in measuring the pore water pressure distribution in solid-water phase flows with a rolling mill.

A model for presentation of seismic pore water pressures

Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, 2006
A model for presentation of pore water pressures induced in sand samples during cyclic undrained testing is described. The proposed model belongs to a class of so-called ‘ damage parameter models’ , which correlate the pore pressure rise with a parameter based on an accumulated variable during testing.
