Dynamic pore water pressure characteristics of saturated sand-clay and sand-silt-clay mixtures
The sand-fines mixtures are widely distributed in hydraulic fill soil and may be subjected to the cyclic action of wave and vehicle loads during their long-term service.

Two-phase, passive separator-and-filter assembly [PDF]
Assembly separates liquid from gas by passive hydrophilic/hydrophobic material approach. Apparatus is comprised of porous glass hydrophilic tubes. Quantity, lateral size, and pore size of glass tubes are determined by particular design requirements with ...

Dissipated energy in undrained cyclic triaxial tests [PDF]
Energy-based methods are an emerging tool for the evaluation of liquefaction potential. These methods relate excess pore water pressure build-up to seismic energy dissipated per unit volume.

We experimentally explore pressure-driven flow of water and n-hexane across nanoporous silica (Vycor glass monoliths with 7 or 10 nm pore diameters, respectively) as a function of temperature and surface functionalization (native and silanized glass ...

Clathrate formation and dissociation in vapor/water/ice/hydrate systems in SBA-15, sol-gel and CPG porous media, as probed by NMR relaxation, novel protocol NMR cryoporometry, neutron scattering and ab initio quantum-mechanical molecular dynamics simulation [PDF]
The Gibbs-Thomson effect modifies the pressure and temperature at which clathrates occur, hence altering the depth at which they occur in the seabed. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements as a function of temperature are being conducted for water/

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Transport of polymer particles in a oil-water flow in porous media: enhancing oil recovery [PDF]
We study a heuristic, core-scale model for the transport of polymer particles in a two phase (oil and water) porous medium. We are motivated by recent experimental observations which report increased oil recovery when polymers are injected after the ...

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.
