Symmetry breaking fluctuations split the porphyrin Q bands [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Porphyrins offer a malleable and cost-efficient platform to sculpt bioinspired technologies with tunable charge transfer, energy conversion, and photocatalytic properties. Yet, despite decades of research, the physical mechanisms that determine their electronic spectra remain elusive. Even for metal-free porphyrins, no consensus exists on the origin of

Squaraine Dyes for Organic Photomultiplication Photodetectors with 220% External Quantum Efficiency at 1240 nm

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a range of squaraine dyes is reported with maximum absorption in solution above 1100 nm. Near‐infrared sensitive organic photomultiplication photodetectors are developed. Photomultiplication occurs via squaraine hole trap‐induced injection of electrons from the external circuit.

A Universal Approach to Anchoring Chromophores onto Magnetic Scaffold for Achieving Easily Recyclable Heterogeneous Photocatalytic Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The practical application of chromophores such as porphyrins, coumarins, anthraquinones, and pyrene derivatives in photocatalysis is severely limited by catalyst stability and reusability. In this work, a simple and universal strategy is presented for preparing highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous photocatalysts for the oxidative coupling of ...

First-principle molecular dynamics with ultrasoft pseudopotentials: parallel implementation and application to extended bio-inorganic system

open access: yes, 2003
We present a plane-wave ultrasoft pseudopotential implementation of first-principle molecular dynamics, which is well suited to model large molecular systems containing transition metal centers.

Unlocking the Potential of Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting via Heterointerface Charge Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research presents a charge polarization approach aimed at enhancing both long‐range charge transfer and surface catalytic activities by incorporating a CoOx/MnOx heterointerface within the semiconductor/transition metal oxyhydroxide system. As anticipated, the BiVO4/CoOx/MnOx/FeNiOOH exhibits an impressive photocurrent of 6.75 mA cm−2 at 1.23 VRHE,
