Porphyromonas gingivalis Strain Diversity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2009
ABSTRACT Porphyromonas gingivalis is implicated in the etiology of chronic periodontitis. Genotyping studies suggest that genetic variability exists among P. gingivalis strains; however, the extent of variability remains unclear and regions of variability remain largely unidentified. To assess

Placental Trophoblast Responses to Porphyromonas gingivalis Mediated by Toll-like Receptor-2 and -4

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry Indonesia, 2013
Trophoblast participates in preventing allorecognition and controlling pathogens that compromise fetal wellbeing. Toll-like receptors recognize conserved sequences on the pathogens surface and trigger effector cell functions.

Age and prevalence of Porphyromonas gingivalis in children [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1996
The acquisition of Porphyromonas gingivalis was examined in a cross-sectional study of 198 subjects from 0 to 18 years of age using a PCR-based assay. P. gingivalis was detected in the oral cavities of 37% of subjects and at similar frequencies among subjects of all ages. These data indicate that P. gingivalis may be acquired in the first days of life.

Melatonin Receptor Agonists as the "Perioceutics" Agents for Periodontal Disease through Modulation of Porphyromonas gingivalis Virulence and Inflammatory Response.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Aim"Perioceutics" including antimicrobial therapy and host modulatory therapy has emerged as a vital adjunctive treatment of periodontal disease. Melatonin level was significantly reduced in patients with periodontal diseases suggesting melatonin could ...

A murC gene in Porphyromonas gingivalis 381 [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1995
The gene encoding a 51 kDa polypeptide of Porphyromonas gingivalis 381 was isolated by immunoblotting using an antiserum raised against P. gingivalis alkaline phosphatase. DNA sequence analysis of a 2.5 kb DNA fragment containing a gene encoding the 51 kDa protein revealed one complete and two incomplete ORFs.
