A CECT‐Based 2PI System as a Novel Noninvasive Prognostic Tool for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Dual‐Validation Study

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Using differential weighting, we developed a 2PI‐based risk stratification system for HCC recurrence. A comprehensive prognostic model incorporating clinical variables and the 2PI score further enhanced postoperative prediction in solitary HCC and showed initial generalizability across SR and RFA cohorts.

Individualized Pathfinding in Rugged Open Terrains Using Semantic Navigation Meshes

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce semantic navigation meshes for complex outdoor terrains, partitioning space into regions with coherent semantic properties like slope or vegetation density. The resulting graphs enable efficient pathfinding with agent‐specific, parameterized cost functions without precomputation, accelerating search while maintaining path quality close to ...

Cystic Fibrosis and Colorectal Cancer Risk: Reprogramming of the Intestinal Epithelial Niche and Cell‐State Plasticity in the CFTR Modulator Era

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
In cystic fibrosis disorder, CFTR dysfunction drives multilayered intestinal niche disruption, including dysbiosis, inflammation, hypoxia, metabolic stress and genotoxic injury, promoting cell‐state plasticity and a pre‐neoplastic ecosystem. CFTR modulators and environmental factors may partially reshape these processes, highlighting opportunities for ...

The mortality gradient in town and country: Social class and childhood mortality in Sweden at the turn of the twentieth century

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines social‐class and urban–rural differentials in childhood mortality in Sweden from 1880 to 1910, a period of steady mortality decline, ongoing industrialization, and urbanization. Urbanization brought improvements in water quality and sanitation but also increased risks from overcrowding, pollution, and infectious diseases ...
