Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Impact of HER2 Expression on the Prognosis of Muscle-Invasive Bladder Cancer Patients Treated with Bladder-Preservation Comprehensive Therapy

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online
Background HER2 expression has been confirmed to be associated with bladder cancer aggressiveness. Anti-HER2 RC48-ADC is approved in China for the treatment of patients with advanced urothelial carcinoma with failed chemotherapy who are HER2 positive ...

Malignant high-grade unclassifiable spindle cell sarcoma in the hand: A diagnostic and therapeutic challenge

open access: yesJPRAS Open
Introduction: Spindle cell sarcoma is a rare malignancy characterized by spindle-shaped cells, often mimicking other tumors and posing diagnostic challenges due to its nonspecific clinical features.

Cytological evaluation of p16Ink4a in precancerous lesions of the cervix: Conventional papanicolaou smears

open access: yesApollo Medicine, 2020
Background: Cancer of the uterine cervix is the second most common cancer among women worldwide. More than three fourths of these patients are diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to poor prospects of long term survival and cure.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Discontinuous Galerkin method for solving incompressible two-phase shallow granular flow model

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
This article deals with the numerical study of two-phase shallow flow model describing the mixture of fluid and solid granular particles. The model under investigation consists of coupled mass and momentum equations for solid granular material and fluid ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Study on pathological factors affecting the sensitivity of neoadjuvant therapy in hypopharyngeal cancer

open access: yesCancer Immunology, Immunotherapy
Objective Hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HSCC) is a highly malignant tumor type in the head and neck region. In recent years, neoadjuvant therapy has significantly improved the laryngeal preservation rate among patients.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
