The two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM) can have two electroweak breaking, CP-conserving, minima. The possibility arises that the minimum which corresponds to the known elementary particle spectrum is metastable, a possibility we call the "panic vacuum".

Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Nonmonotonic Desires: A Possibility Theory Viewpoint [PDF]
International audienceIf an agent desires that ϕ and desires that ψ, this agent often also desires that ϕ and ψ hold at the same time (ϕ ∧ ψ). However, there are cases where ϕ ∧ ψ may be found less satisfactory for the agent than each of ϕ or ψ alone ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Renormalizability of hot classical field theory [PDF]
I discuss the possibility of using classical field theory to approximate hot, real-time quantum field theory. I calculate, in a scalar theory, the classical two point and four point function in perturbation theory.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

An Ordinal View of Independence with Application to Plausible Reasoning
An ordinal view of independence is studied in the framework of possibility theory. We investigate three possible definitions of dependence, of increasing strength.

Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

The Possibilistic Mean-Variance Model with Uncertain Possibility Distributions
The possibilistic mean–variance (MV) model is the counterpart of Markowitz’s MV model in the possibility theory. This study aims to examine the possibilistic MV model when the possibility distributions of stock returns are uncertain triangular fuzzy ...

Bounding probabilistic sea-level projections within the framework of the possibility theory
Despite progresses in climate change science, projections of future sea-level rise remain highly uncertain, especially due to large unknowns in the melting processes affecting the ice-sheets in Greenland and Antarctica.
