Persistent Wnt/β-catenin signaling determines dorsalization of the postnatal subventricular zone and neural Stem cell specification into oligodendrocytes and glutamatergic neurons [PDF]
In the postnatal and adult central nervous system (CNS), the subventricular zone (SVZ) of the forebrain is the main source of neural stem cells (NSCs) that generate olfactory neurons and oligodendrocytes (OLs), the myelinating cells of the CNS.

Crosstalk among epigenetic pathways regulates neurogenesis
The process of neurogenesis, including neural stem cell proliferation, fate specification, young neuron migration, neuronal maturation, and functional integration into existing circuits, persists in restricted regions of the postnatal brain.

TULP4, a novel E3 ligase gene, participates in neuronal migration as a candidate in schizophrenia
Mutations identified from four SCZ pedigrees resulted in decreased TULP4 expression. Tulp4 knockdown caused delayed neuron migration in embryonic mice, and impaired cognition and prepulse inhibition in adult mice. These phenotypes may be related to TULP4 through its involvement in the formation of a novel E3 ubiquitin ligases.

Morris Water Maze Learning in Two Rat Strains Increases the Expression of the Polysialylated Form of the Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule in the Dentate Gyrus But Has No Effect on Hippocampal Neurogenesis [PDF]
In the current study, the authors investigated whether Morris water maze learning induces alterations in hippocampal neurogenesis or neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM) polysialylation in the dentate gyrus.

Radial glia in the proliferative ventricular zone of the embryonic and adult turtle, Trachemys scripta elegans. [PDF]
To better understand the role of radial glial (RG) cells in the evolution of the mammalian cerebral cortex, we investigated the role of RG cells in the dorsal cortex and dorsal ventricular ridge of the turtle, Trachemys scripta elegans.

Signaling pathways linking behavior to neurogenesis in healthy brain and disease [PDF]
Self-repair of the adult brain is limited – most diseases lack effective therapy. In order to better understand how a regenerative response can be achieved, studying mechanisms shaping the neurogenic niche, from environmental factors to intrinsic ...

Neurotransmitter signaling in postnatal neurogenesis: The first leg [PDF]
Like the liver or other peripheral organs, two regions of the adult brain possess the ability of self-renewal through a process called neurogenesis. This raises tremendous hope for repairing the damaged brain, and it has stimulated research on identifying signals controlling neurogenesis.

Age-dependent kinetics of dentate gyrus neurogenesis in the absence of cyclin D2
Background Adult neurogenesis continuously adds new neurons to the dentate gyrus and the olfactory bulb. It involves the proliferation and subsequent differentiation of neuronal progenitors, and is thus closely linked to the cell cycle machinery.
