Brain viral reservoir seeding and neurological metabolic dysregulation in early‐life immunodeficiency virus infection

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
Brain viral reservoirs were undetectable in neonatal SIV during the first 3 days post infection; antiretroviral therapy (ART) at 3 dpi prevented brain reservoir seeding and normalized metabolic function, highlighting the necessity of very early treatment to protect the developing CNS.

Resistance to potato virus A and potato virus Y in potato cultivars grown in Finland

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2008
Phenotypic expression of resistance to potato Y potyvirus (PVY) and potato A potyvirus (PVA) was tested in 24 potato cultivars and an advanced breeding line using graft-inoculation under controlled conditions in the glasshouse. Resistance phenotypes were

Emerging experimental and bioinformatic approaches in RNA interference‐based pest control research

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) visualization, RNA‐induced silencing complex (RISC)‐bound sRNA‐seq and RNA degradomics allow investigating dsRNA uptake and processing, guide small interfering RNA selection and RISC‐mediated target mRNA cleavages. Transcriptomic and proteomic profiles of genome‐wide responses to dsRNA, including off‐target and compensatory ...

European S2k guidelines on management of autoimmune blistering diseases in children and adolescents

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Autoimmune blistering disorders (AIBDs) in children are rare, challenging to diagnose and treat and often require immunosuppressants. Until now, no paediatric care guidelines existed. The EADV Task Force for AIBDs has developed the consensus‐based recommendations, enabling physicians to adopt a uniform, tailored treatment strategy to improve outcomes ...

Effect of Endophytic Fungi on Thrips tabaci Development and Population Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Endophytic fungi are promising biocontrol agents because they colonise healthy plant tissues asymptomatically while inducing systemic resistance that negatively affects herbivorous insects. We investigated whether treatments with the endophytes Trichoderma harzianum and Beauveria bassiana in two onion cultivars (Allium cepa L.; Sturon and Red ...

Viruses and their significance in agricultural and horticultural crops in Finland

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 2008
This paper reviews the plant viruses and virus vectors that have been detected in agricultural and horticultural crop plants and some weeds in Finland. The historical and current importance of virus diseases and the methods used for controlling them in ...
