Common-Source Common-Drain (CSCD)-Based Integrated RF Power Amplifier for Wireless Communication Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access
In wireless transceivers, the power amplifier (PA) is the most power-consuming and critical component, as it must meet stringent linearity and reliability requirements while maintaining high efficiency.

Analysis and Design of Outphasing Transmitter Using Class-E Power Amplifiers With Shunt Capacitances and Shunt Filters

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper, a novel outphasing power amplifier (PA) based on class-E amplifiers with shunt capacitances and shunt filters is proposed. The new design provides high drain efficiency for both peak and back-off power levels.

“RF-SoC”: Integration Trends of On-Chip CMOS Power Amplifier: Benefits of External PA versus Integrated PA for Portable Wireless Communications [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Microwave Science and Technology, 2010
RFIC integration has seen dramatic progress since the early 1990s. For example, Si-based single-chip products for GSM, WLAN, Bluetooth, and DECT applications have become commercially available. However, RF power amplifiers (PAs) and switches tend to remain off-chip in the context of single-chip CMOS/BiCMOS transceiver ICs for handset applications. More

Multimode multiband power amplifier with tapped transformer for efficiency enhancement in low power mode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Multimode multiband connectivity has become a defacto requirement for smartphones with 3G WCDMA/4G LTE applications. In this research, a two-stage multimode multiband (MMMB) power amplifier (PA) with multiple gated transistor (MGTR) and configurable ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

One watt gallium arsenide class-E power amplifier with a thin-film bulk acoustic resonator filter embedded in the output network

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2015
Integration of a class-E power amplifier (PA) and a thin-film bulk acoustic wave resonator (FBAR) filter is shown to provide high power added efficiency in addition to superior out-of-band spectrum suppression.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Low-Complexity Sub-band Digital Predistortion for Spurious Emission Suppression in Noncontiguous Spectrum Access

open access: yes, 2016
Noncontiguous transmission schemes combined with high power-efficiency requirements pose big challenges for radio transmitter and power amplifier (PA) design and implementation.
