Power Efficient Subcarrier Modulation for Intensity Modulated Channels

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We compare formats for optical intensity modulation limited by thermal noise with the assumption of having ideal devices. At the same bitrate and bandwidth, a hitherto unknown format turns out to be more power efficient than known formats. This new modulation, which is a hybrid between on-off keying and phase-shift keying, belongs to the subcarrier ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Phase substitution of spare converter for a failed one of parallel phase staggered converters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Failure detection and substitution of a spare module is provided in a system having a plurality of phase staggered modules connected in parallel to deliver regulated voltage from an unregulated source.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Magnetic Near-Field Strength Prediction of a Power Module by Measurement-Independent Modeling of Its Structure

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a simulation scheme based on the S-parameters for simultaneously predicting the circuit operation of a power module (PM) and its consequent magnetic near-field (NF) strength.

Module failure isolation circuit for paralleled inverters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A module failure isolation circuit is described which senses and averages the collector current of each paralled inverter power transistor and compares the collector current of each power transistor the average collector current of all power transistors ...

Effect of Electron Energy Distribution Function on Power Deposition and Plasma Density in an Inductively Coupled Discharge at Very Low Pressures

open access: yes, 2002
A self-consistent 1-D model was developed to study the effect of the electron energy distribution function (EEDF) on power deposition and plasma density profiles in a planar inductively coupled plasma (ICP) in the non-local regime (pressure < 10 mTorr ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Multivariable Lubin-Tate (\phi,\Gamma)-modules and filtered \phi-modules

open access: yes, 2013
We define some rings of power series in several variables, that are attached to a Lubin-Tate formal module. We then give some examples of (\phi,\Gamma)-modules over those rings.

Turn-key module for neutron scattering with sub-micro-eV resolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We report the development of a compact turn-key module that boosts the resolution in quasi-elastic neutron scattering by several orders of magnitude down to the low sub-micro-eV range.
