Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

High frequency impedance based fault location in distribution system with DGs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Distributed Generations (DGs) with power electronic devices and their control loops will cause distortion to the fault currents and result in errors for power frequency measurement based fault locations.

Agglomerative Clustering-Based Network Partitioning for Parallel Power System Restoration

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, 2018
After a blackout, it is essential to restore the blackout area rapidly to minimize possible losses. In parallel restoration, the blackout area is first partitioned into several subsystems, which will then be restored in parallel to accelerate the ...

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

The role of intelligent systems in delivering the smart grid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The development of "smart" or "intelligent" energy networks has been proposed by both EPRI's IntelliGrid initiative and the European SmartGrids Technology Platform as a key step in meeting our future energy needs.

Orthogonal genetic algorithm based power system restoration path optimization

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, 2018
: Optimizing the power system restoration path is a key issue for the system restoration after a blackout. Because the optimization is a complex nonlinear programming problem, artificial intelligent algorithms are widely employed to solve this problem ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Practical applications of multi-agent systems in electric power systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The transformation of energy networks from passive to active systems requires the embedding of intelligence within the network. One suitable approach to integrating distributed intelligent systems is multi-agent systems technology, where components of ...
