Self‐Texturing Scratch‐Resistant and Bacteria‐Repellent Superhydrophobic Polypropylene Surfaces Through Extrusion‐Based Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 5, May 2026.
One‐step 3D printing combined with in‐situ self‐assembly of behenic acid creates hierarchical polypropylene surfaces with micro‐ and nanostructures. The resulting material exhibits superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of 163 (±2)°, self‐healing, and high scratch resistance, while reducing initial bacterial adhesion by 87%. ABSTRACT Superhydrophobic

Arbuscular mycorrhiza in the urban jungle: Glomeromycotina communities of the dominant city tree across Amsterdam

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 3, Page 983-999, May 2026.
Trees in cities provide a great number of benefits to people and nature, but they are challenged by harsh conditions. Trees rely on helpful fungi in their roots to get essential nutrients from the soil, but we do not know which of these fungi are resistant to city landscapes.

Crustacean and Mollusc Shell Proteins: Origin, Structure, and Functionality

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Crustacean and molluscan processing as seafood generates a significant amount of shell waste annually, owing to the dense, mineral‐rich composition of the exoskeleton. Although valorization efforts have mostly focused on chitin and chitosan, the protein fraction remains underutilized despite its prominent nutritional, functional, and sensory ...

Inhibition of Protein Tyrosine Kinases Attenuated Aβ-Fiber-Evoked Synaptic Transmission in Spinal Dorsal Horn of Rats With Sciatic Nerve Transection

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2006
Peripheral nerve injury leads to the establishment of a novel synaptic connection between afferent Aβ-fiber and lamina II neurons in spinal dorsal horn, which is hypothesized to underlie mechanical allodynia.

Streaming and Elastic Traffic Service in 5G-Sliced Wireless Networks and Mutual Utilization of Guaranteed Resource Units

open access: yesFuture Internet
Researchers of 5G-sliced Wireless Networks are faced with the task of achieving, at the same time, (i) mandatory isolation among network slices and (ii) the effective utilization of resource at Fifth Generation Base Station (gNB).

Src kinase inhibition decreases thrombin-induced injury and cell cycle re-entry in striatal neurons

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2008
Since Src kinase inhibitors decrease brain injury produced by intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and thrombin is activated following ICH, this study determined whether Src kinase inhibitors decrease thrombin-induced brain injury.

Classical Strongly Coupled QGP: VII. Shear Viscosity and Self Diffusion

open access: yes, 2009
We construct the Liouville operator for the SU(2) classical colored Coulomb plasma (cQGP) for arbitrary values of the Coulomb coupling $\Gamma=V/K$, the ratio of the mean Coulomb to kinetic energy.

Full field algebras

open access: yes, 2006
We solve the problem of constructing a genus-zero full conformal field theory (a conformal field theory on genus-zero Riemann surfaces containing both chiral and antichiral parts) from representations of a simple vertex operator algebra satisfying ...

Association between Visit-to-Visit Glucose Variability and Cognitive Function in Aged Type 2 Diabetic Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Background and purposeDiabetes is associated with cognitive decline as well as the development of dementia. Although mean blood glucose levels are typically used to assess the status of diabetic patients, glucose variability is also involved in the ...
