Complex Cryptographic and User‐Centric Physically Unclonable Functions Enabled by Strain‐Sensitive Nanocrystals via Selective Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.

Satellite-observed precipitation and total column water vapor

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science
This study explores the relationship between water vapor and rainfall intensities over three tropical lands (Amazon Basin, Sahel, southern South America) and three tropical ocean regions (Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Niño 4). We utilized daily total column water vapor (TCWV) data from the Atmospheric Infrared Sounder (AIRS) and daily precipitation ...

The relationship between raining and GPS – precipitable water vapor

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2019
AbstractPrecipitable water vapor (PWV) can be retrieved from the delayed of the propagating GPS signal through the wet atmosphere. In the experiment, the GPS data in 2009 from the permanent GPS station name of CUSV were used to estimate the amount of integrated vertical water vapor above the GPS station in term of PWV.

A Smart Bio‐Battery Facilitates Diabetic Bone Defect Repair Via Inducing Macrophage Reprogramming and Synergistically Modulating Bone Remodeling Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This research presents a novel implantable bio‐battery, GF‐OsG, tailored for diabetic bone repair. GF‐OsG generates microcurrents in high‐glucose conditions to enhance vascularization, shift macrophages to the M2 phenotype, and regulate immune responses.

Thirteen years of integrated precipitable water derived by GPS at Mario Zucchelli Station, Antarctica

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2013
Since 1998, the Italian Antarctic Programme has been funding space geodetic activities based on the use of episodic and permanent global positioning system (GPS) observations.

Ultrahigh‐Yield, Multifunctional, and High‐Performance Organic Memory for Seamless In‐Sensor Computing Operation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular engineering of a nonconjugated radical polymer enables a significant enhancement of the glass transition temperature. The amorphous nature and tunability of the polymer, arising from its nonconjugated backbone, facilitates the fabrication of organic memristive devices with an exceptionally high yield (>95%), as well as substantial ...

Temporal Relations of Column Water Vapor and Tropical Precipitation

open access: yesJournal of the Atmospheric Sciences, 2010
Abstract Empirical studies using satellite data and radiosondes have shown that precipitation increases with column water vapor (CWV) in the tropics, and that this increase is much steeper above some critical CWV value. Here, eight years of 1-min-resolution microwave radiometer and optical gauge data at Nauru Island are analyzed to ...

Upconversion Nanoparticles Embedded Photonic Contact Lens for Transepithelial Corneal Crosslinking Using Hyaluronate – Riboflavin Conjugate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive, transepithelial corneal cross‐linking (TE‐CXL) approach is presented using upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs)‐loaded contact lenses (UCLs), after topical delivery of hyaluronate–riboflavin conjugates. The NIR‐to‐UV/blue light conversion by UCNPs in a UCL can activate riboflavin for TE‐CXL, resulting in the biomechanical strength ...

From Waste to Value: Conversion of Calcium Sulfate to Vaterite via Carbon Capture and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a new concept for carbon management that relies on the carbonation of industrial gypsum waste and yields phase‐pure vaterite at ambient conditions without any additives. The obtained vaterite is further shown to be a reactive material that develops compressive strength in aqueous suspensions like conventional cements.

Pore Size Effects of Mesoporous N‐Doped Carbon Nanospheres as Advanced Support Material on the Activity of Molybdenum Sulfide Catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By tuning the pore size of mesoporous N‐doped carbon (MPNC) nanospheres as support material for molybdenum sulfide, the electrochemical activity of the composite material for the hydrogen evolution reaction can be optimized. An ideal MPNC pore size of 60 nm allows a high number of molybdenum sulfide active sites while maintaining efficient proton and ...
