ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Mixed‐class J‐domain protein scaffolds promote expanded aggregate handling and multivalent Hsp70 engagement during functional disaggregase assembly

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein aggregates threaten proteostasis and cell health. In human cells, Hsp70–J‐domain protein‐based disaggregases remove aggregates, but how they assemble remains unclear. Our biochemical findings show that DNAJA2‐ and DNAJB1‐containing disaggregase scaffolds enhance luciferase aggregate targeting, and that Hsp70 recruitment by both J‐domain ...

The Many Roles of Precision in Action

open access: yesEntropy
Active inference describes (Bayes-optimal) behaviour as being motivated by the minimisation of surprise of one’s sensory observations, through the optimisation of a generative model (of the hidden causes of one’s sensory data) in the brain. One of active

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

An Examination of the Effectiveness of Precision Teaching

open access: yes, 2009
This research examined the effect of adding precision teaching to an already used method of times table practice, compared practice with and without precision teaching, and finally compared precision teaching to rate building.

Economic and environmental web services for the advancement of precision spraying

open access: yes
The study introduces optimised web services within an automatic assistance system for precision pesticide application. By automating planning, applying, documenting, and evaluating stages of the pesticide application process, the study seeks to ease the ...

You Don’t Bend It Like Beckham if You’re Female and Reminded of It: Stereotype Threat Among Female Football Players

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
Originally, the stereotype threat effect – poorer performance due to a fear of fulfilling a negative stereotype about one’s group – was demonstrated for cognitive tasks (e.g. Steele and Aronson, 1995, or Steele, 1997).

The search for precision

open access: yesCleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine, 2020
![][1] The concept of “precision medicine” includes the ability to prospectively determine how best to provide the right therapy to the right patient to treat the right disease. The goal of providing tailored treatment is not a new concept. It is the cornerstone of all therapies,

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
