Cartesian approach to large scale co-ordinate measurement: InPlanT

open access: yes, 2014
A novel paradigm of coordinate measurement is presented, named InPlanT. The target application is the industrial measurement of large workpieces in harsh conditions, e.g. in aerospace industry.

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

A high precision magnetometer based on pulsed NMR

open access: yes, 1996
A magnetometer based on pulsed proton magnetic resonance has been developed and constructed. The system will be employed for an accurate measurement of the absolute magnetic field in the region of 1.45 T in a precision experiment on the muon's ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Multiplexed Single‐Cell Rheology Probing Using Surface Acoustic Waves

open access: yesSmall Science
Cellular rheological properties affect cell function and are reflective of cell status. It is challenging to perform multiplexed single‐cell rheology probing with high controllability, particularly for adherent cells.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
