ABSTRACT This study explores how social workers perceive and enact informal protective arrangements in the context of Swedish child protection. Drawing on group interviews with practitioners, the findings reveal that social workers underline parents' legal obligation and duty to protect their children, which means that the safe parent is expected to ...

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Hierarchical Differentiable Fluid Simulation
We introduce a two‐step algorithm that significantly reduces memory usage for solving control problems using differentiable fluid simulation techniques: our method first optimizes for bulk forces at reduced resolution, then refines local details over sub‐domains while maintaining differentiability. In trading runtime for memory, it enables optimization

The contribution of mental models to the transformation of conflicts over wildlife
Human–wildlife conflict (HWC) is a growing threat to conservation and human well‐being. Over the last decade, mental models, representations in people's minds of how parts of the world work, have gained increasing attention in conservation as they enable the structured elicitation and discussion of differences among stakeholder views and their ...
