Selectivity of Imazapic + Imazapyr Herbicides on Irrigated Rice as Affected by Seed Treatment with Dietholate and Clomazone Applied in Preemergence [PDF]

open access: yesPlanta Daninha, 2018
: The use of dietholate seed treatment, as well as the use of preemergence clomazone, can affect the selectivity of the imidazolinones chemical group of postemergence herbicides applied in crops Clearfield™.

Cover crops and preemergence herbicides: An integrated approach for weed management in corn-soybean systems in the US Midwest

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy, 2022
Adoption of a fall established, high biomass cereal rye cover crop has potential to diversify weed management in corn and soybean production systems, reducing the selection pressure for resistance to postemergence herbicides.

Poa annua becomes the first weed to evolve resistance to indaziflam applied preemergence and early-postemergence. [PDF]

open access: yesPest Manag Sci
We report the first confirmed global case of Poa annua evolving resistance to indaziflam applied both preemergence and early‐postemergence. Resistance intensified under cool temperatures, was not reversed by metabolic inhibitors, and was often linked to multiple resistance, underscoring urgent needs for integrated weed management.

Control of glyphosate-resistant waterhemp with preemergence herbicides in glyphosate- and dicamba-resistant soybean

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Plant Science, 2019
: Glyphosate-resistant (GR) waterhemp was first discovered in Ontario, Canada, in 2014. In Ontario, GR waterhemp interference in previous studies reduced soybean yield up to 73%.

An Energetic Tradeoff Best Explains Parturition Timing in Grizzly Bears. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
Capitalizing on latitudinal denning‐chronology variation among four grizzly bear populations in interior North America, and using grizzly bear parturition dates (27 Dec–28 Feb) previously predicted from anomalous daily motion counts, we found evidence supporting the hypothesis that birth is optimally timed relative to den exit to balance an energetic ...

Landscape weed control varies by preemergence herbicide, formulation, and geography

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences & Environment
Mulch, mechanical removal, and herbicides are the most common weed control practices employed in landscapes. Previous research demonstrated preemergence herbicide efficacy in nurseries, but research in landscapes with and without mulching is limited ...

Preemergence herbicide premixes reduce the risk of soil residual weed control failure in corn

open access: yesWeed technology, 2023
Widespread occurrence of herbicide-resistant weeds and more variable weather conditions across the United States has made weed control in many crops more challenging.

Control of waterhemp (Amaranthus tuberculatus) at multiple locations in Illinois with single preemergence applications of VLCFA-inhibiting herbicides

open access: yesWeed technology, 2022
Herbicides that inhibit very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) have been widely used for preemergence control of annual monocot and small-seeded dicot weed species, such as waterhemp, since their discovery in the 1950s.
