Prevalence, Predictors and Sexual Health Correlates of Heavy Episodic Drinking Among Females of Reproductive Age in Ghana

Public Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Using 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey data from 15,014 females aged 15–49, HED prevalence was 2.1%. Older age, daily smoking and history of terminated pregnancy predicted HED. Multiple extra‐spousal sexual partners and genital discharge are key sexual health correlates. Integrated alcohol–sexual health interventions are recommended.

Predictors of Intimate Partner Violence Among Reproductive Age Group Women in Mozambique

Public Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Intimate partner violence affects 24.8% of women in Mozambique. Key risk factors include partner alcohol use, intergenerational violence and women's employment, whereas higher education, wealth and older age are protective. Findings highlight the need for integrated interventions targeting alcohol use, family violence and gender norms.
