Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Integrated metagenomic–metabolomic insights into plant–microbe interactions mediated by Bacillus volatile compounds

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology
Modulation of plant–microbe interactions with signaling molecules offers a promising strategy to promote plant growth and stress adaptation. However, identifying effective signaling molecules and elucidating the mechanisms for regulating the rhizosphere ...

Rupture preparation process controlled by surface roughness on meter-scale laboratory fault

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate the effect of fault surface roughness on rupture preparation characteristics using meter-scale metagabbro specimens. We repeatedly conducted the experiments with the same pair of rock specimens to make the fault surface rough.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Metabolism, Organ Distribution, and Blood-Brain Barrier Penetration of Human Milk Oligosaccharides—6′/3′-Sialyl-N-acetyllactosamine

open access: yesApplied Sciences
3′-sialyl-N-acetyllactosamine (3′-SLN) and 6′-sialyl-N-acetyllactosamine (6′-SLN) are two important human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) which play significant functions in brain development and antiviral potential.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Catalytic neural stem cell exosomes for multi-stage targeting and synergistical therapy of retinal ischemia-reperfusion injury

open access: yesCell Reports Medicine
Summary: Neuronal damage of the retina is a leading cause of visual impairment in patients with retinal ischemia-reperfusion injury (RIRI). Building on our clinical and experimental findings, the substantial decrease in catalase activity correlates with ...
