From business process models to process-oriented software [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Several methods for enterprise systems analysis rely on flow-oriented representations of business operations, otherwise known as business process models. The Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is a standard for capturing such models.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Developing engineered muscle tissues utilizing standard cell culture plates and mesenchymal stem cell-conditioned medium

open access: yesRegenerative Therapy
The construction of engineered muscle tissues that resemble the function and microstructure of human muscles holds significant promise for various applications, including disease modeling, regenerative medicine, and biological machines.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Decoding the dynamic extracellular matrix in cancer—3D models and bioscaffolds rewire the rules of tumor progression

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cancer progression is regulated by the dynamic matrix code of the tumor microenvironment, which influences cellular behavior and disease development. Importantly, matrix remodeling in three‐dimensional cancer models more accurately reflects in vivo conditions compared to conventional two‐dimensional systems.

Comprehensive RNA velocity by modeling the cascade of gene regulation, transcription, and splicing from single-cell RNA sequencing data with TSvelo

open access: yeseLife
RNA velocity approaches fit gene dynamics and infer cell fate by modeling the splicing process using single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. However, due to the short time scale of splicing, high noise, and large complexity of data, existing RNA ...

The process of smoking cessation: an analysis of precontemplation, contemplation, and preparation stages of change.

open access: yesJournal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1991
Traditionally smoking cessation studies use smoker and nonsmoker categories almost exclusively to represent individuals quitting smoking. This study tested the transtheoretical model of change that posits a series of stages through which smokers move as ...

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Process Biochem.

open access: yes, 1996
The purification of alpha-amylase from a elude enzyme preparation was carried out by liquid-liquid reversed micellar extraction. After a full forward and background extraction cycle, the alpha-amylase was purified about 1.5-fold with 85% recovery.
