Abstract The well‐being of medical physicists can impact overall system performance, patient safety, and quality of patient care. There are limited formal assessments of factors contributing to physicists well‐being. Nine medical physicists at a US academic medical center were surveyed on 21 workplace factors, drawn from the National Academy of ...

Architected Lattices with a Topological Transition
This article develops topological metamaterials showing multidirectional two‐step deformation under compression by embedding contact‐enabled topological mechanisms into lattice structures. Experiments on 3D‐printed 2D and 3D lattices and finite element simulations are conducted to demonstrate the working principle of the topological metamaterials.

Abstract The NLR family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is a vital part of the innate immune response, whilst its aberrant activation drives the progression of several noncommunicable diseases. It induces caspase‐1 activation and the downstream substrates involved with the processing and secretion of the pro‐inflammatory cytokines IL‐1β ...

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Clinical characterization of Collagen XII‐related disease caused by biallelic COL12A1 variants
Abstract Objective While there have been several reports of patients with dominantly acting COL12A1 variants, few cases of the more severe recessive Collagen XII‐related disorders have previously been documented. Methods We present detailed clinical, immunocytochemical, and imaging data on eight additional patients from seven families with biallelic ...
