Response of an artificially blown clarinet to different blowing pressure profiles [PDF]
Using an artificial mouth with an accurate pressure control, the onset of the pressure oscillations inside the mouthpiece of a simplified clarinet is studied experimentally. Two time profiles are used for the blowing pressure: in a first set of experiments the pressure is increased at constant rates, then decreased at the same rate.

Local weighted topological pressure [PDF]
In [D. Feng, W. Huang, Variational principle for weighted topological pressure. J. Math. Pures Appl. (2016)], the authors studied weighted topological pressure and established a variational principle for it. In this paper, we introduce the notion of local weighted topological pressure and generalize Feng and Huang's main results to localized version.

Radiation Pressure Quantization [PDF]
Kepler's observation of comets tails initiated the research on the radiation pressure of celestial objects and 250 years later they found new incarnation after the Maxwell's equations were formulated to describe a plethora of light-matter coupling ...

Intracranial Pressure—Theory of the Driving Pressure and a New Pressure Index
In order to understand the pathogenesis of increased intracranial pressure, the concept of the driving pressure (DP) from the intracranial vascular system was proposed. The DP consists of combined pressure continuously transmitted from the arterial pressure (ADP) and venous pressure (VP) systems.

In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

Sinusoidal-pressure generator for testing dynamic pressure probes [PDF]
Generator can produce sinusoidal pressures at frequencies from 300 to 5000 Hz and peak-to-peak amplitudes up to 5.6 lbs/sq in. Amplitude and phase-angle measurements made at various frequencies are compared with measurements from a piezoelectric ...

Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Oscillatory mechanoluminescence of Mn2+-doped SrZnOS in dynamic response to rapid compression
Photon emission may be continuously produced from mechanical work through self-recoverable mechanoluminescence (ML). Significant progress has been made in high-performance ML materials in the past decades, but the rate-dependent ML kinetics remains ...
