Linagliptin increases the expression of LRP2 independent of Nrf2 in streptozotocin‐induced diabetic mice

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims/Introduction Oxidative stress is thought to play a role in the onset and progression of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Nuclear factor erythroid‐related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a master regulator of antioxidant and detoxification pathways and provides cellular protection against oxidative stress.

LGR6 couples maresin 1 signaling to glycolytic flux and protein lactylation for the rescue of diabetic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
MaR1 activates LGR6‐AMPK signaling to restore metabolic flexibility in diabetic hearts. Glycolytic recovery replenishes intracellular lactate to rescue protective protein lysine lactylation, which reactivates PINK1/Parkin‐mediated mitophagy to eliminate damaged mitochondria.

USP25 promotes ferroptosis in diabetic retinopathy by deubiquitinating p53 and suppressing the GPX4/SLC7A11 axis

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore the expression of the deubiquitinase (DUB) USP25 in diabetic retinopathy (DR) and its mechanistic role in regulating ferroptosis. Methods Bioinformatics was used to screen for DR‐related DUB candidate genes. USP25 expression was validated in a streptozotocin‐induced diabetic mouse model and high glucose (HG)‐treated ARPE ...

Diagnostic model based on machine learning with multi‐feature analysis for diabetic peripheral neuropathy in type 2 diabetes: A single‐center retrospective study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a common and serious complication of diabetes, which imposes a significant economic burden on both society and individuals. Therefore, early identification and diagnosis are crucial for the prevention and treatment of DPN.

Mortality in Salmon (Salmo salar) Fry Related to Lipoid Liver Disease Induced by Unbalanced Fatty Acid Composition of the Diet

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2023, all but one Swedish restocking farm rearing Baltic salmon and sea trout fry experienced massive mortality caused by lipoid liver disease (LLD). The struck farms used the same feed, and this was suspected to be the cause of the outbreak.

Periodontitis and Diabetes: Mechanistic Evidence of a Circular Relationship

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This narrative review aimed to explore the underlying mechanisms that connect periodontitis to diabetes (and vice versa) and that influence disease susceptibility, progression and response to treatment. ABSTRACT The circular relationship between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus is one of the most established oral‐systemic links.

Causal Effects of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus on Chronic Periodontitis and the Mediating Role of Oxidative Stress: Evidence From Mendelian Randomization and Mediation Analysis

open access: yesOral Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with an increased risk of chronic periodontitis, but genetic evidence and oxidative stress‐related pathways remain unclear. Objective This study assessed the genetically inferred association between T2DM and chronic periodontitis, evaluated oxidative stress biomarkers as potential ...

Porphyromonas gingivalis GroEL accelerates abdominal aortic aneurysm formation by matrix metalloproteinase‐2 SUMOylation in vascular smooth muscle cells: A novel finding for the activation of MMP‐2

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Infection is a known cause of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and matrix metalloproteases‐2 (MMP‐2) secreted by vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs) plays a key role in the structural disruption of the middle layer of the arteries during AAA progression.
