Acute kidney injury in a dog after ingestion of homemade modelling dough containing cream of tartar (potassium bitartrate)

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Summary A 16‐month‐old, male, neutered cocker spaniel developed gastrointestinal signs following ingestion of a homemade modelling dough containing cream of tartar. Blood biochemistry (29 hours post‐ingestion) showed elevated creatinine, urea and symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA).

Huaier Attenuates Renal Injury in Type 2 Diabetic Nephropathy by Ameliorating Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Inhibiting Tubular Epithelial Cell Apoptosis

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2026.
Huaier aqueous extract significantly attenuates renal injury and tubular epithelial cell apoptosis in Type 2 diabetic nephropathy. This protective mechanism is driven by the amelioration of mitochondrial dysfunction and the targeted suppression of the aberrant Wnt5a/β‐catenin signaling pathway.

Exercise‐Based Management of Diabetic Cardiomyopathy: Preclinical Mechanisms, Clinical Evidence, and Translational Strategies

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2026.
Exercise may mitigate diabetic cardiomyopathy by improving mitochondrial metabolism, redox balance, calcium handling, and inflammatory‐fibrotic remodeling. Translation into clinical practice requires phenotype‐ and risk‐adapted exercise prescriptions, standardized dose reporting, and multimodal monitoring to define safety, efficacy, and long‐term ...

WTAP‐mediated m6A RNA methylation promotes diabetic foot ulcer healing under negative pressure wound therapy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, Volume 17, Issue 11, Page 2019-2033, November 2026.
NPWT significantly increases the suppressed WTAP and m6A levels in DFU patients, correlating directly with better 4‐week healing outcomes. In vitro, negative pressure reverses high‐glucose‐induced WTAP downregulation, restoring the cell proliferation and migration necessary for wound repair.

Circulating Natural Killer Cells in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes and Peripheral Neuropathy Are Altered in Their Frequency and Exhibit Impaired Functions and Angiogenic Activities

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 20, 31 October 2026.
Neuropathic T2DM is characterized by increased circulating NK‐cell frequency but impaired NK‐cell function. Functional defects, including reduced degranulation and diminished pro‐angiogenic activity, together with an inflammatory cytokine milieu, promote macrophage recruitment, vascular inflammation, and defective angiogenesis, highlighting NK‐cell ...
