Biophysical analysis of angiotensin II and amyloid‐β cross‐interaction in aggregation and membrane disruption

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Angiotensin II (AngII), a neuropeptide, interacts with amyloid‐β (Aβ), a key player in Alzheimer's disease. This study reveals that AngII reduces Aβ aggregation and membrane disruption in vitro. Biophysical assays and molecular modeling suggest AngII binds disordered Aβ forms, potentially modulating early amyloidogenic events and contributing to ...

Digital interventions in smoking cessation – a brief overview of systematic reviews and meta-analyses

open access: yesNowotwory
Digital health includes a variety of modern methods that may support smoking cessation. In light of increasing interest in digital health interventions and the widespread digitizaton of the digitalization process in Europe, it seems relevant to assess ...

Autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder among individuals with a family history of alcohol use disorders

open access: yeseLife, 2014
Recent studies suggest de novo mutations may involve the pathogenesis of autism and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Based on the evidence that excessive alcohol consumption may be associated with an increased rate of de novo mutations in

Head and neck cancer prevention: from primary prevention to impact of clinicians on reducing burden.

open access: yesAnnals of Oncology, 2019
Survival from head and neck cancers (HNCs) of the lip, oral cavity, pharynx, and larynx has increased by 10% over the past few decades. Little over half of patients who develop HNCs will survive beyond 5 years.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Caesarean delivery in a migration context: the role of prior delivery in the host country

open access: yesSexual and Reproductive Health Matters, 2020
Migrant women in industrialised countries experience high caesarean section (CS) rates but little is known about the effect of a previous delivery in the host country.

Efficacy and safety of aspirin for primary prevention of cardiovascular events: a meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 2018
AIMS The role of aspirin in the primary prevention setting is continuously evolving. Recent randomized trials have challenged the role of aspirin in the primary prevention setting.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Early administration of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors in patients with acute coronary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Background High-intensity statin therapy is currently recommended initial guideline therapy in ACS treatment. However, only a minority of patients are achieving LDL-C attainment goal at 6 months.

Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease

open access: yesCardiology, 1997
Antihypertensive drug treatment has been shown to significantly decrease cardiovascular morbidity and mortality rates in hypertensive subjects and to reduce the occurrence of major hypertension-related complications, such as stroke, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure and renal insufficiency.
