A Streaming Multi-GPU Implementation of Image Simulation Algorithms for Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yes, 2017
Simulation of atomic resolution image formation in scanning transmission electron microscopy can require significant computation times using traditional methods.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Pushing the Limits of Seagrass Remote Sensing in the Turbid Waters of Elkhorn Slough, California

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Remote sensing imagery has been successfully used to map seagrass in clear waters, but here we evaluate the advantages and limitations of different remote sensing techniques to detect eelgrass in the tidal embayment of Elkhorn Slough, CA.

Rare event simulation for highly dependable systems with fast repairs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Stochastic model checking has been used recently to assess, among others, dependability measures for a variety of systems. However, the employed numerical methods, as, e.g., supported by model checking tools such as PRISM and MRMC, suffer from the state ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Natamycin in the treatment of keratomycosis: Correlation of treatment outcome and in vitro susceptibility of fungal isolates

open access: yesIndian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
In this study, 60 fungal isolates from 60 patients with fungal keratitis were tested in vitro for their susceptibility to natamycin and the mean minimum inhibitory concentrations of natamycin (MICn) were correlated with clinical outcome.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

On The Total Irregularity Strength of Regular Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical and Fundamental Sciences, 2015
Let 𝐺 = (𝑉, 𝐸) be a graph. A total labeling 𝑓: 𝑉 ∪ 𝐸 → {1, 2, ⋯ , 𝑘} is called a totally irregular total 𝑘-labeling of 𝐺 if every two distinct vertices 𝑥 and 𝑦 in 𝑉 satisfy 𝑤𝑓(𝑥) ≠ 𝑤𝑓(𝑦) and every two distinct edges 𝑥1𝑥2 and 𝑦1𝑦2 in 𝐸 satisfy 𝑤𝑓(𝑥1𝑥2 ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
