Sherlock Holmes on Reasoning [PDF]
In this paper, I will show that Sherlock Holmes was a good logician, according to the standard of the 19th century, both in his character and knowledge (sections 2 and 3).

Probabilistic-possibilistic belief networks [PDF]
The interpretation of membership functions of fuzzy sets as statistical likelihood functions leads to a probabilistic-possibilistic hierarchical description of uncertain knowledge.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Combinatorial and Proportional Task: Looking for Intuitive Strategies in Primary Education
The development of probabilistic thinking at school requires enhancing combinatorial and proportional reasoning. For this reason, 190 sixth-grade elementary school students (11–12-year-old), without previous instruction in the topic, solve a task ...

Performance analysis of probabilistic timed automata using digital clocks [PDF]
Probabilistic timed automata, a variant of timed automata extended with discrete probability distributions, is a modelling formalism suitable for describing formally both nondeterministic and probabilistic aspects of real-time systems, and is amenable to

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Stream Reasoning using Temporal Logic and Predictive Probabilistic State Models
Integrating logical and probabilistic reasoning and integrating reasoning over observations and predictions are two important challenges in AI. In this paper we propose P-MTL as an extension to Metric Temporal Logic supporting temporal logical reasoning ...
