Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

A Mathematical Model for the Initial Interaction Stage Between a Radar System and a Target Using GERT Network

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The article presents a mathematical model of radar systems operating under jamming conditions. The relevance of the study is highlighted by two main factors: the need to enhance the accuracy of radar systems and the requirement to incorporate new jamming

A probabilistic model of Ancient Egyptian writing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This article investigates a probabilistic model to describe how signs form words in Ancient Egyptian writing. This applies to both hieroglyphic and hieratic texts. The model uses an intermediate layer of sign functions.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Identification of thyroid gland activity in radioiodine therapy

open access: yesInformatics in Medicine Unlocked, 2017
The Bayesian identification of a linear regression model (called the biphasic model) for time dependence of thyroid gland activity in 131I radioiodine therapy is presented. Prior knowledge is elicited via hard parameter constraints and via the merging of

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...

Cyberattack Risk Assessment in Electronic banking Technologies (the Case of Software Implementation)

open access: yesФинансы: теория и практика, 2020
The authors investigate the risks of computer attacks on automated banking systems. The relevance of the study is due to the need to revise the approaches to risk assessment based on the technical components of banking business processes and the ...

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Physics‐Grounded Probabilistic Bits for Hardware‐Efficient Intelligent Inference and Optimization

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems
As intelligent systems increasingly rely on probabilistic inference and large‐scale optimization, deterministic hardware faces intrinsic limitations in efficiently exploring complex solution spaces.
